1. Who we are

RivalCheck is operated by MakeHelm Ltd (“we”, “us”, “our”), which is the controller of the personal data described in this policy. RivalCheck uses software, including AI agents, to find public web pages that make claims about your product and to monitor publicly available competitor websites. This policy explains how we handle your personal data when you use the service or visit our website.

2. Data we collect

Order and account information

When you place an order we collect your work email address and the details you give us about your product (such as URLs and facts to treat as true). When you create an account we collect your name, email address, and password (stored as a cryptographic hash). If you join an organisation, we also store your role and membership details.

Billing information

Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your full card number, CVC, or bank details. Stripe provides us with a token, card brand, last four digits, and expiry date for display purposes. See Stripe’s privacy policy for how they handle payment data.

Public web content

We capture screenshots and text from publicly available web pages that mention your product, and from competitor pages you ask us to monitor. This data is used solely to provide the service. We do not access private, authenticated, or paywalled content.

Usage data

We collect standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited, timestamps) to maintain and improve the service. We may use analytics tools to understand aggregate usage patterns.

3. How we use your data

We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your data for advertising.

4. AI processing

RivalCheck uses third-party AI services (including Anthropic and OpenAI) to analyse public web pages and compare their claims with your own pages. The content sent to these providers is mainly publicly available web page text and screenshots. Our AI providers process this data under their respective data processing agreements and do not use it to train their models.

We share data only with service providers who help us operate RivalCheck:

We require all processors to handle your data in accordance with this policy and applicable data protection law. We do not share your data with other third parties except where required by law.

6. Data retention

We retain your account and order data for as long as your account is active or as needed to deliver what you bought. Snapshots are retained according to your plan’s history limits. When you delete your account, we remove your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or compliance purposes.

7. Security

We protect your data using encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest, secure password hashing, and access controls. While no system is perfectly secure, we take reasonable measures appropriate to the sensitivity of the data we process.
